The Ultimate Bridal Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin

As a makeup artist, one of the most common questions I get from my brides is, "How should I prepare my skin before the wedding day?" Your skincare routine should start well before your wedding day to ensure your complexion is radiant and camera-ready on the big day. I have put together a simple skincare routine that all brides-to-be should start with so you are ready to walk down the aisle with unwavering confidence.

Step 1: Cleanse

You have had a long day of wedding planning and need to unwind. But before you crawl into bed, don't forget to wash your face. A cleanser will help you reduce breakouts and even out your skin tone. First, use an oil-based cleanser to gently remove makeup, dirt and oil build-up. Wash your face again, but this time with a water-based cleanser (gel cleansers are my favourite!) to remove the any remaining makeup residue.

Step 2: Tone, Clarify, Balance

One of the most important steps to remember in your skin care routine is to use a toner. If you treat your skin with a toner directly after cleansing, this will not only balance the level of your skin PH, but also provide a healthier, more radiant complexion!

Step 3: Apply Serum

Apply a serum after your toner to achieve the fresh, youthful look that all brides-to-be want for their wedding day. You should apply a serum twice a day. Choose a serum that is suited to your skin concerns. If you have dry skin, serums with hyaluronic acid will help hydrate and retain moisture in your skin. If your skin is congested and prone to acne, serums with niacinamide will help soothe inflammation while balancing sebum production.

Step 4: Moisturise

As the day wears on,you may notice that your skin becomes firmer. This is your skin's way of telling you that it needs moisture! Apply a moisturiser after your serums to seal in all the goodness you applied in the steps before. If you have oily skin, you may find a gel moisturiser works best to avoid excess shine. For dry skin, go for a richer consistency.

Lastly, remember to drink water regularly to make your skin glow from the inside out, and apply sunscreen daily to protect your skin from excessive sun exposure when you are out and about. But most of all, be patient with your skin! If you stay as true to your skincare routine as you are to your future spouse, you'll have a glowing complexion in no time.
